Rivista Universitas is a scientific journal registered with ANVUR and established in 1980. It is currently managed by CIMEA and is recognized in the following academic areas in Italy: Area 14 – Political and Social Sciences and Area 11 – Historical, Philosophical and Educational Sciences. The journal also aims to obtain recognition in Area 12 – Legal Sciences and Area 13 – Economic and Statistical Sciences.

Starting in 2025, the New Series of Universitas will adopt the model of a peer-reviewed journal, implementing a double-blind peer review process, which involves two independent evaluations by external experts.

The journal’s main areas of interest focus on the legal field, with particular attention to the right to education, university law, public and private international law, anti-discrimination law, labor law, and European Union law, with a specific emphasis on human rights issues. In addition, the journal covers political, economic, social, and cultural history from the 19th century to the present, with a particular focus on topics related to higher education and the impact of educational reforms at both national and international levels. Universitas also engages with the fields of General and Social Pedagogy, as well as the History of Teaching and Pedagogical Methods.

The journal will be published biannually, with two issues per year in June and December, in open access format.

Universitas QuaderniCIMEA, in addition to publishing the Universitas journal, CIMEA also oversees the Universitas Quaderni series (New Series), which is dedicated to the in-depth, monographic exploration of themes related to university life, education, academic and student mobility, as well as the regulatory and comparative analysis of higher education systems, both nationally and internationally.

Universitas Quaderni represents a virtually unique initiative within the Italian publishing landscape, as there are currently no other systematic projects that organically focus on this specific field of research. The series aims to fill this gap by offering a space for multidisciplinary scholarly reflection and critical updates on topics such as the right to education, university policies, credential recognition, academic governance and processes of internationalisation.

Through the Quaderni, CIMEA seeks to engage scholars at the international level, promoting the production and dissemination of rigorous and innovative research on issues related to universities, higher education and global mobility. In doing so, it contributes to a deeper understanding of the ongoing transformations shaping the contemporary academic world. The publication of Universitas Quaderni will rely on a dedicated Scientific Committee and Editorial Board.

The series will be published online in Open Access format, ensuring maximum visibility and accessibility of its scholarly content in either Italian or English.
