The publication examines the processes of academic recognition of foreign qualifications within Italian higher education institutions, interpreted in light of the increasing international mobility and the profound ongoing digital transformation. The work is the result of a participatory process carried out within the framework of the fourth edition of the Advanced Training Course for Credential Evaluators (CIMEA, European University of Rome, APICE), involving representatives from 25 Italian higher education institutions. The methodological approach included data collection through a project work structured into four macro-areas (internal processes, external relations, digital tools, transparency), participatory workshops, and a qualitative analysis based on thematic coding. The investigation identified nine thematic areas across the three phases of the recognition process: input, throughput, and output. The input phase examined dynamics related to the volume of applications, as well as transparency and effective communication with students.
