Abstract
The paper addresses the issue of quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area in alignment with excellence priorities and trends highlighted in the modern higher education landscape and the revised organizational excellence models. While the European framework for quality assurance rests upon institutional consolidation, an acquis of clearly defined processes and methodologies, criteria and tools, it seems that the characteristics of the economic and social context necessitate a fresh look amid higher education developments, the quest for sustainable pathways, technological omnipresence and disruptions. Hence, the study at hand attempts to identify those priorities that will rejuvenate quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area and build the foundations for global innovation.
